1. Training:
   Training for new facilitators is conducted at the SmartBrain Head Office in Cape Town. In certain cases, the Training Director may specify a venue closer to the majority of trainees. We also offer training via Zoom.

Training sessions include both practical and theoretical components. The training is an inspiring journey in which trainees are introduced to:

1. The magnificent power of the brain
2. The different reading methods and the science behind SmartBrain’s unique methodology
3. Techniques to develop a baby’s maximum cognitive potential (as described in Make Your Baby Mentally Superb)
4. SmartBrain’s entry, formative, and summative assessments
5. Perfect writing skills
6. The 44 phonetic sounds and the 70 ways of spelling them
7. The wonder of dictionaries and comprehension
8. Techniques for supporting dyslexic and slow learners
9. Techniques for assisting illiterate adults
10. SmartBrain’s unique Study and Memory Techniques

SmartBrain Lydenburg opened its doors in 2023 when Tom and Petro Grobler decided to offer SmartBrain reading and learning programs alongside their Abacus Math programs. Their conviction arose when they realized that, in most cases, children struggle with math because they cannot read properly. Since then, Tom and Petro have trained four additional facilitators to help the many children who need a solid foundation in reading.

SmartBrain Brits het sy deure in 2023 oopgemaak, met Soné Eveleigh en Nita-Mari du Plessis as mede eienaars van hierdie lees- en leersentrum. Hulle is ook in besit van die SmartBrain Hartbeespoortdam sentrum. Binne een jaar het hierdie twee passievolle onderwyser entrepreneurs ‘n baie suksesvolle lees- en leerseentrum op die been gebring!

Top Centre Awards were announced in July and SmartBrain Head Office congratuled SmartBrain Vredendal for being the top achieving centre in SmartBrain for 2023.

Marida Wiese has run SmartBrain Vredendal very successfully since 2014. Her infuence in the Vanrhynsdorp, Klawer, Vredendal and Lutzville area has been legendary. For many years her reading centre was, if not the best, amongst the best in the country.  SmartBrain Head Office extends our heartfelt thanks for her dedication, hard work and infuence that contributed to making SmartBrain a household name in this region. She has decided to hand over the reigns to one of her capable facilitators. SmartBrain wish Nadine Coetzee every success in the coming years.

Worldwide Literacy (An NPO) has been involved with a literacy project at Ohrigstad Primary School, which Standard Bank has sponsored in 2024, to help address literacy problems at the school through our service provider partner, SmartBrain. We wish to extend out heartfelt thanks to Standard Bank for intervening at a time when literacy is at an all-time low in South Africa.

For this project, SmartBrain Lydenburg did an assessment of all the learners at the school to evaluate their reading abilities. A group of 25 learners were selected based on these reading results and are still in the process of receiving 16 hours of remedial reading training. The project will continue into November 2024 and has already achieved meaningful results.

SmartBrain Child Development Institute

Dear SmartBrain Team,

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the transformative role SmartBrain played in my son Manie Moolman’s life. At a vulnerable stage in his early years, Manie began with your program in Grade R. With only 40% vision, he faced unique challenges, and I knew that building a strong foundation in reading and learning would be essential for him. SmartBrain provided that foundation and so much more.

Through four years of dedicated teaching and support, Manie gained skills in phonics, writing, comprehension, and study techniques in both Afrikaans and English. The patience, encouragement, and expertise of your team were invaluable, helping him make significant strides. By Grade 2, he was reading at a Grade 5 level, and from that point forward, he thrived academically, achieving straight 7’s in all his subjects and truly enjoying his learning journey with SmartBrain.

Today, Manie is in Grade 11 and is one of the top achievers in his school, continuing to excel in all his studies. Reflecting on his progress, I cannot help but feel immense gratitude for the foundation SmartBrain provided during his critical formative years. Without the referral to your program, I’m not sure where we would be today.

Thank you once again for the positive and lasting impact you’ve made in Manie’s life. I am deeply appreciative of your dedication and the difference you continue to make for so many children.
